Šipan
is the largest of the Elafiti islands and the only one where cars
are allowed. It has two large settlements (Luka Šipanska and Suđurađ).
Suđurađ has wary important harbor where car-ferry can board.
Šipan was inhabitated from the roman times, so except its natural
beauties, offers numerous well-preserved historical sights: 42 old
summer residences and 34 churches mostly dating back from
middle
ages and ruins dating from times of ancient Rome.
In Šipan’s fertile valley are cultivated the highest quality olives,
figs, vine, oranges and lemons.
Šipan also has many nice
beaches where
one can enjoy in the Sun and clean blue sea. When visiting
Dubrovnik, one should also visit Šipan at least for one day. |
